Liberty cannot be preserved
without a general knowledge
among the people, who have
a right, an indisputable,
unalienable,
indefeasible,
divine right to that most dreaded
and envied kind of knowledge,
I mean the characters and conduct of their rulers.

We've all been shy at one point in our lives right? It's either the whole crush on a guy thing, or moving to a new place that shoves the drive right into us. It's the whole fear thing coming into play. Once you're afraid of something, you withdraw, trying to make yourself invisible to the world so you won't be found, questioned, or be forced to make interaction with others. It happens with horses too, but with this filly, it only happens rarely. That time comes when she is around stallions. Mean stallions mostly, but it can happen with the most gentle stallion if she's caught off-guard.

As the filly watched the mare, uncertain of the response that she would receive, she began to regret ever opening her little muzzle about anything. It would've been better if she died anyway. She was abandoned. No one had wanted her. Not even her own mother. In the back of her mind she was sobbing uncontrollably, but she had learned in the past day not to reveal her emotions to anyone. When the mare turned, Liberty shut her eyes for a brief moment just to calm down for a second. When she opened her eyes she jumped back, scrambling for a safe place. There was none.

She stopped at the edge of the trail, quivering as the mare came closer to her. She felt the heat from the sun fade as the mare stood infront of her, blocking the merciless rays. Her eyes stared up at the mare, first in wonder of how big she was, then in fear. She didn't know this mare, let alone know if she was going to kill her or not. As the mare snorted, Liberty cringed even lower, if that was possible for her. A tear began to creep along her small face as the mare had no news of her lost mother. She still felt the mare's stony glaze as she looked over Liberty. She tried to stand up higher, but she failed, legs crumpling under her for she had only had them for a day and a few hours to work out the kinks in them. The question that the mare shot back in return along with the comment, caught Liberty off guard. "I'm barely a day and a few hours old. No ma'am, I can't take care of myself. I still need my mother." The foal dared to take a peek at the mare above her own figure, brown pools spilling tears onto the dirt path that she laid upon. "I need my mother!" She started to cry uncontrollably.
